What does Batch for Books do?
Batch for Books is a business tool designed for independent bookstores to electronically store and organize invoices, reduce paperwork and time-consuming administrative tasks, and prepare publisher payments.
How does Batch work?
When a store signs up for Batch, publishers will begin to electronically transmit invoices and credits via EDI to a bookstore’s Batch web portal where booksellers can view, manage, search, and pay invoices.
Who is Batch for?
Any independent bookstore who has terms with at least one of the publishers on Batch will benefit from using Batch.
What publishers are on Batch?
Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Macmillan, and Gardner's US are currently on Batch. Microcosm, Blackstone, and Independent Publisher Group will be coming on board in the summer of 2024, and we're working to add more new publishers to Batch in the near future.
How much does Batch charge to use the service?
Batch is a free service and does not charge bookstores any fees to use Batch for Books.
What are the benefits of using Batch?
There are many benefits to using Batch, but chief among them are you’ll be better organized and spend significantly less time on paperwork, data entry, resolving issues with publishers, making claims for damages and shortages, and preparing payments to publishers. Additionally, because Batch is a web-based platform, you’ll be able to access your invoices wherever and whenever you want.
Can Batch integrate with my accounting software?
Batch can integrate with QuickBooks Desktop for Windows and QuickBooks Online to transmit invoice and payment information from Batch to QuickBooks to eliminate the need to do data entry.
Does Batch decide what invoices get paid?
No! A store has complete control over what invoices get paid and when they get paid. Batch cannot draft funds from your bank account and will only remit to the publishers when you have authorized us to do so.
Do I need to download or purchase any software to use Batch for Books?
Batch is a web-based platform so it’s not necessary to download or install any software to use Batch for Books.
Can I use Batch for placing orders?
Batch is a tool to help stores manage invoices and payments to their vendors but it’s not possible to place orders through Batch.
Does Batch integrate with my POS provider?
At the moment, Batch is not integrated with any POS provider, but we have plans to do so in the future.
Is Batch easy to use?
Batch is different than what you’re used to, but it is a simple, straight-forward tool so the learning curve is not very steep. How-to tutorials are available and Batch staff is always on hand to guide you through every step of the process.
